It’s officially a girl!

**As posted on my Multiply page, March 23, 2009**

After months of guessing, the ultrasound reveals our baby’s gender.

Ang daming mali ang hula.

Hmm, I think even my mom read the Chinese conceiving calendar wrong.

As for me, I was kept guessing up to the last minute. One time, I felt I’m gonna have a boy, and the next thing I knew I was looking at baby girls’ dresses in the mall.

Well, at least the ultrasound has confirmed it. The sonologist showed us the baby’s genitals. They call it “hamburger” if it’s a girl and “turtle” if it’s a boy, based on the shape.

‘Di na mapagkakaila,” she said.

Everything’s normal, too: heartbeat, size, fluid, kidneys, limbs. That’s why we’re very happy.

So, Anna Zafina it is. Zee for short. Only MIL didn’t like it because the name had a letter “z” and it’s not lucky daw in feng shui. I don’t really know. (My mom said, “Letter ‘a’ naman yung first name e.”) But hubby likes the name and plans to stick with it. It’s pretty unique, it has a nice meaning (Arabic for “victorious”), and it leaves a sort-of mark that the baby is indeed his, being a gamer-geek-dork-nerd that he is. Plus I bet it won’t give her a hard time getting her NBI clearance when she needs it.

Staring at the ultrasound pics really keeps me smiling. I guess the only things that would worry me now are the pain of childbirth and the friggin’ costs that would go with it.

    Hi Michelle.

    Congratulations!

And I love her name. Anna Zafina — plenty of a’s, in my opinion a very nice thing. Maganda kasi ang recall at madali pang bigkasin.

Natawa ako dun sa ‘hamburger’ at ‘turtle’. 🙂

Thanks! I thought walang ibig sabihin yung Zafina (nakuha kasi sa Tekken, harhar!) pero thanks to the Internet, I found out na maganda ang meaning niya.

Yep, the “hamburger” and “turtle” are kinda pretty funny terms. 😛

Got here from Pretty Tin’s blog.

Congratulations. caveat on UTZ though: if it’s a turtle sign mahirap magkamali at mataas ang confidence ng sonologist na sabihing it’s a BOY, pero sa experience namin pag hamburger sign, possible na naipit ang phallus kaya pwedeng hindi accurate. Pero the important thing is mukhang wala namang overt congenital problems ang baby. So congratulations!

Hi! Thanks for that info. Hmm, mukhang confident naman yung sonologist sa pagsabi na girl daw ‘to. But if this happens to be a boy, oks lang (I originally wanted a boy, hehe). Basta healthy, diba? 😀 Thanks for dropping by, too.
