To tell you honestly, if I get an opportunity to earn from my blog, I do. So far, I’ve received requests for sponsored posts, which have been very helpful in my blogging life.
A few years ago, while reading about making money through blogs, I chanced upon affiliate marketing. Basically, it’s earning by promoting a product or service in one’s blog in exchange for commissions from leads or sales received from that promotional post. That actually got me interested. For one, I don’t have to create a product to sell. I just publish a link in a post or a banner ad in my site and get something in return if someone clicks them.
Affiliate marketing has been done in every part of the world, even here in the Philippines. Some companies who do affiliate marketing include Amazon (Amazon Associates), ShareASale, eBay (eBay Partner Network) and CJ Affiliate.
I thought of signing up for affiliate programs to see if I can earn from them. While I have a consistent salary, I’d like to try a way to earn passively. Before, I joined Lazada Philippines’ Affiliate Marketing Program. Noticed the times I posted about Lazada’s sale and offerings? Well, that was part of the affiliate marketing that I did. Unfortunately, I discontinued it when Lazada did changes on their platform.
I thought of joining Amazon, ShareASale, and CJ Affiliate but I felt that the products weren’t tailored for my audience. So I decided to sign up for affiliate programs that seem interesting not just to me but to my audience as well. I thought it would help as well if these involved products and services that I really use either in blogging or in my profession. Because I felt I can promote them better.
So which affiliate programs did I sign up for? They’re a few but here they are:
WordPress

EasyBlog Themes

Jetpack

Design Cuts

Pixel Surplus

Involve Asia
When I started researching on affiliate marketing and programs that I could join, I was kinda hard-pressed to find one that’s focused on the Philippines. But then I found Involve Asia, which is an affiliate marketing platform based in Asia. A lot of their advertisers are from Asian countries, which was pretty favorable for me being in the Philippines with a high number of visits from this part of the world.
What I like about this site is that it offers affiliate programs centered on the Philippines like that for Photobook Philippines. They also have advertisers that accept traffic from all over the globe like Ann Taylor. I noticed most advertisers serve Thailand and Malaysia; I guess affiliate marketing is really alive there.
But, in any case, there’s no harm in trying to sign up for affiliate programs to earn passive income. Who knows, by pursuing this, I get to have some money on the side, even if just a little.
** This post contains affiliate links that let me earn when you sign up or purchase by clicking on them. But no worries when you don’t. 🙂
