Preggy diary: Appetite and gassiness problems
*Wait, there is such a word as gassiness, right?
Anyhoo… during my second check-up with my OB-Gyne, she asked me how I was feeling and if I was eating (since she noticed that, between my 7th and 9th week of pregnancy, I did not gain additional weight). I told her that I was having problems with eating right now.
See, with my first pregnancy, it was fairly clear-cut which food items I didn’t like. This time around, I’m having trouble knowing which food I want to eat. Everything just smells bad and tastes awful for me. After eating or drinking, there would be a rusty aftertaste in my mouth. It comes to a point that I don’t want to eat anything. Which, of course, I cannot do, else my little one won’t get the nourishment he/she needs.
Also, at this point of my pregnancy, I’m feeling quite flatulent and gassy. It always feels like I have acid reflux that I should burp all the time. Sometimes I have problems releasing gas that I feel really lousy.
I don’t remember feeling these when I was pregnant with Zee. All I had was the usual morning sickness and that’s it. This time around, it’s — I don’t know — bad.
I was advised to chew some gum if I felt that rustiness again in my tongue. And I take a whiff of Vicks whenever I feel nauseous because of the different aromas around me. And I also take smaller but more frequent meals now, which means more merienda moments for me and the baby, just so I won’t go hungry for long periods of time. I just eat whatever I feel like eating — crackers and biscuits for snacks, and whatever is less assaulting to my senses for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Ugh, I can’t wait for the first trimester to pass. At least by the 4th month, appetite will slowly go back to normal. And hopefully I’ll feel less gassy by then.
