The Blog Stats Surprise

Posted on - in Internet, Life

I’ve been blogging for almost more than a decade now (since 2004 before having my self-hosted site in 2017). And during this course of my journey, I’ve been content with having a few views.

Views are still views, after all. At least someone was reading my blog.

The highest number I’ve had was like 90-something in one day. Most days, the daily views would range from just 20 to 60-something.

Until last weekend.

Like WHUT?

I thought that it was a glitch. There’s probably something wrong. I mean, who goes from 76 to 300+ overnight?

YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. That’s exactly what I said when I saw those numbers yesterday.

To be honest, I don’t know what I did to gain those numbers. Well, yeah, I did publish this post. And well, anything with that topic bring in views. That topic is the most-viewed in my blog.

And yes, I participated in reciprocation activities with bloggers. Would that have caused it?

Or maybe because of Yoast? I love using Yoast when posting on my blog. I always check its recommendations.

Seriously, no idea. If you’re gonna ask me for tips, I’m not sure what I’m gonna say. I mean, I don’t even create a content calendar for my blog.

But I know one thing that I should say right now: THANK YOU. Whoever’s reading this right now, know that you’re a big part of the success of my blog. And for that, I am very grateful.

What’s next for me? Well, just more things to write. So hope you guys stick with me. 🙂

Maybe, but I’ve never really experienced anything like this. It’s just too weird for me, I guess. 😛

I know how it feels! I just had my self-hosted site this year and whenever the stats say there are people reading my posts it makes me feel so giddy. Ihaven’t mastered all the ins and outs of a self hosted site yet but hopefully I’ll get there. Congrats on your fantastic stats!

I guess all it takes is the right blog post! It is always good to see that someone is reading your post, even if it is just a few people each day. Do you think you will start writing more now that you have had an increase in viewers?

It took me almost two years before I was able to gain a good traffic. And at first, just like you, I thought it was just a glitch or someone is spamming me, but then again it was actually a start of my good traffic. I hope that you’ll get more views in the future, and I know views are still views regardless of numbers. But at some point, it makes us happy when we get good traffic and it makes us motivated to share more about our experiences and what we have learned.

Thank you! 🙂 Got curious about blogging that I’ve tried a lot: Blogger, Multiply, even Friendster (!) before settling on WordPress. And yes, Yoast is awesome for us bloggers. 😀
