Yep, my little girl is now 2 years old.
I still remember the time when I gave birth to her. The sore throat and fever was all worth it (believe it or not, those were signs of me already in labor).
Back then, when I learned that I was going to give birth to a baby girl, I had a slew of names in mind. Her dad, who was addicted to the latest Tekken game release (yeah, back then it was new), wanted to name her after one of the new characters. It kinda sounded like a weird name, but after some research, I found that it had a beautiful meaning. And so I agreed to give her the name. I just added a first name to it, as it is tradition in the family (at least on my end) to have 2 given names. And so it was: Anna Zafina — our “gracious victory.”
Such a teeny tiny baby, now all grown up. And a budding musical artist as well, so it seems. She now chooses Myx over Nickelodeon. She has taken some sort of interest with our dingy piano (which, despite being ruined by Ondoy, is still a regular fixture in the house). Songs in our phones and computers are put into repeat mode, such as those of Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Pink, and Jessie J.
She likes to make “birit” ala Charice, too. I wouldn’t be surprised if she just tells me one day that she wants to have a singing career.
But that would probably happen after, like, 10 years. For now, I’m going to enjoy this moment, her baby-toddler moments.
While thinking about where to enroll her next year or the year after that.
Happy birthday, Zee. Here’s to more gracious victories for us.
